ABOUT
US
Rushton Park is a family-owned and operated thoroughbred farm located in the heart of Central Victoria. In May 2024, we proudly purchased the property from the wonderful David and Kayley Johnson, continuing the farm’s strong reputation for quality horse care and horsemanship.
Owned and operated by Frank and Emily, Rushton Park combines a lifetime of horse experience with a genuine passion for breeding, raising, and developing young thoroughbreds.
Frank comes from a construction and farming background, although horses quickly became a major part of his life after he and Emily built and operated a large horse agistment property in Nar Nar Goon, Victoria for over 10 years. Together, they developed a hands-on approach centred around exceptional care, practical horsemanship, and attention to detail.
Emily’s passion for horses began at just two years old and has continued for more than 40 years. Growing up, she competed extensively across a wide range of disciplines including dressage, show jumping, eventing, showing, and hunting. Alongside competition, she spent many years breaking in young horses and educating horses for clients before and after school and work.
In her 20s, Emily further refined her horsemanship under the guidance of the highly respected Cliff Saunders of Garfield, Victoria. This experience played a significant role in shaping the horsewoman she is today and remains one of the most valued chapters of her journey with horses.
Today, Emily still actively competes performance horses across multiple disciplines including cutting, reining, cow horse, ranch, western dressage, show jumping, English dressage, and showing — reflecting the versatility and depth of experience behind the Rushton Park operation.
Over the past several years, Frank and Emily have developed their own boutique broodmare band, initially breeding to race before expanding their focus toward producing quality weanlings and yearlings for the sales market.
At Rushton Park, our greatest passion lies in foaling down mares and nurturing young horses through their early development. We strongly believe that patience, consistency, and time invested into young horses are always repaid many times over. Every horse on the farm is treated with the same level of care, attention, and dedication as if they were our own.
